The aim of our work is to gain a deeper, empirically and theoretically sound understanding of medical professionalism and professionalization. To this end, we focus on the development and research of analogue and digital learning environments and use the elements of interactivity, reflection, personalization, artificial intelligence and virtual reality, among others. Our work also results in innovative teaching and learning environments with the aim of implementing them into the medical studies.

In doing so, we focus mainly on the following topics:

1. Medical skills and their promotion
2. Doctors' professional identity (development) and its promotion
3. Development of personalized simulation-based, digital learning environments
4. Attitudes, motives and practices of teachers in the medical context 

We use and combine quantitative and qualitative research methods. Furthermore, in addition to its position in clinical medicine, the Chair thrives in terms of content and methodology on close collaboration with the key related sciences: educational science, sociology and psychology. This also shows in the deliberate professional diversity and interdisciplinary cooperation of the Chair´s academic staff.
